Danfoss Power Solutions provides thousands of equipment maintenance documents to their Distribution Partners via a Salesforce Community.
Historically, when updates to these maintenance documents were required, Danfoss’ content managers needed to manually sift through a myriad of source files within its Microsoft SharePoint® platform, find the corresponding file within Salesforce®, then update the changes between these documents. This manual “synchronization” process quickly became overwhelming, taking the content managers away from their primary responsibilities.
When Danfoss began looking to upgrade its Salesforce Community, it wanted to ensure the updated Community offered a more automated, seamless integration with its SharePoint environment.
Danfoss engaged Emtec’s Digital Services Group to create a custom integration between its Salesforce CRM system and its Microsoft SharePoint collaboration environment. Emtec leveraged its ShareINTEGRATE™ Salesforce SharePoint integration solution as an “accelerator” to swiftly create a powerful automated agent that would regularly (e.g. nightly) sift through Danfoss’ SharePoint-hosted documentation to detect new or updated content, then synchronize this content with corresponding content hosted in Salesforce for Danfoss’ global distribution partners to consume.
Emtec’s ShareINTEGRATE™ team worked in symphony with the client’s ongoing Salesforce Community Upgrade initiative team – including Emtec’s sister company Wave6™ – to develop & deploy integration capabilities using a customer-driven agile development approach. The
resulting integration solution now greatly reduces the manual effort previously required for content synchronization. It is also available anywhere at any time via mobile devices.
Danfoss now has an automated conduit between its SharePoint and Salesforce environments that enables it to more quickly share equipment documentation updates with its distribution partners. The automated process synchronizes 20-40 documents per second – potentially thousands of documents daily – compared with only dozens using previous (manual) methods.
Danfoss’ solution saved content managers hours of daily effort, providing a full ROI on the project within a few months of operation. Danfoss’ distribution partners now enjoy improved documentation accuracy, and Danfoss content managers are able to re-focus on their primary duties
