The transportation and logistics industry has witnessed the greatest impact of digitalization fueled by the coronavirus pandemic. Ironically though, traditional third-party logistics (3PL) players are still conservative when it comes to automation. While there are several reasons why 3PL firms are hesitant to adopt Robotic Process Automation (RPA), there is a strong push towards technology adoption mainly due to the increasing threat from Digital Freight Matching (DFM) platforms. RPA can address many of the inherent operational challenges faced by 3PLs, enabling companies to remain relevant in today’s highly competitive market.
